Advertising campaigns and brand messages are something that you just can't get away from.

From TV and radio ads, digital billboards on the underground and buses, to ads all over the internet, you're surrounded by brands encouraging you to buy the latest console game, top ten single or new mobile phone. The culture of communication is an ever more complex mind field to navigate, but one that young people are increasingly immersed in.

Our aim is to help young people not only examine the changing culture of communication, but the many forms by which these advertising / mass media messages are delivered. With that basic understanding, it's our hope you can go from simply being receivers of someone else’s message, to becoming creators of your own.

But as we know, power is nothing without control – just ask Carl Lewis, so on the course you will meet and learn from industry professional folk, go on day trips to research ideas and discover new creative / analytical skills.

You’ll be encouraged to see a world of creativity in a whole new way, with the chance to really develop your own creative genius. And once you've wowed your friends with it, you can then wow the world. By end of it all, our little protégés will have more of an understanding of how advertising really works, and even better still, how to create your own message.

How does it work for organisations?

As well as supporting the development of young people, the Let’s Be Brief programme helps organisations to identify and tackle communication or business problems they may be facing. We believe that sometimes it just takes a different approach, and indeed the insight of youngsters, to give a fresh outlook on ideas that may have appeared as stale as moldy old bread. Read more...
