Jehst is my postman

Filed under: Marketing,Music,Viral — Tags: Dragon, High Plains Drifter, Jehst, Low Life, Ordinary family, postman, YNR — Samuel @ 10:40 am April 28, 2011

This was the first video uploaded on the YouTube account, wwwdotnet, apparently showing all round don Jehst in his day job as a postman. Forums like UKHH and Rap Worlds went nuts with terrified members questioning the future of UK Hip Hop if one of it’s chief exports had fallen to being a normal dude with an early start.

Two months later wwwdotnet uploaded this;

Concept / Direction: Ian Pons Jewell
DOP / Steadicam: Doug Walshe
Stylist: Miranda Florence Boucher
Editor: Gaia Borretti
Focus Puller: Max Mallen
Assistant Producers: Tamas Jakics / Bruno Travers

Rebecca Black :: Friday

Filed under: Music,News,Viral — Tags: Rebecca Black — Samuel @ 6:09 pm March 18, 2011

This is Rebecca Black’s song, Friday, and it’s been gaining a million plus daily YouTube views this week. The song tells the story of an average Friday for Rebecca, full of fun fun fun and thirteen year olds driving convertible cars.

Justin Bieber has obviously inspired a lot of young people to try to become successful recording artists, however he’s also filled parents and record label owners eyes with pound / dollar signs who are now pushing enthusiastic children down that path regardless of their talent.

Vodafone :: Jenson, Lewis, one tent and a festival

Filed under: Marketing,Viral — Tags: Formula 1, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, McLaren, Vodafone UK — Ansel @ 12:30 pm February 22, 2011

Well acted, well scripted and very very early. Despite the wedge Formula 1‘s journalistic vultures have attempted to drive between the two McLaren drivers – you know, the Brit vs. Brit, ‘there can be only one’ narrative – Lewis and Jenson appear to be getting on quite well.

I’ll save any further musings for my F1 blog, but in a time of flagging commercial support for this most expensive of sports, Vodafone continue to maximise their investment in the McLaren team with this comedic viral spot.

LG :: The Young and the Connected

Filed under: Advertising,Social Media,Viral — Ansel @ 2:51 am December 12, 2010

In advertising land there’s ‘a’ truth and ‘the’ truth. LG‘s The Young and The Connected idents interestingly fall into the latter, as they highlight the frivolities of our social network interactions almost to the point where they threaten to undermine both the user and the applications themselves.

Don’t get me wrong. These idents are good. Very good. And neither LG or Joe Bloggs will be concerned by my frivolous observations, as they’ll be smirking every time they’re aired – just like I do.

Now check you’re Bookface. You’ve officially been poked.

A Bad Day for Benny

Filed under: Marketing,Music,Viral — Tags: A Bad Day for Benny, Crystle Clear, The Insomniax — Ansel @ 2:50 pm July 16, 2010

Traffic Wardens: We can’t stand them. The Insomniax: If you don’t know them, by the time we’re finished you will do.

Crystle Clear Cinema presents A Bad Day For Benny trailor for the impending short film, featuring Insomniax band member and fully paid up theatre performer Mark Anderson. Benny’s the Warden who can never catch a break, though we can probably agree that he doesn’t deserve one.

With soundtrack by The Insomniax and a cameo by INX’s very own Doctor Sydney Velvet (that’s right), what this video hints at is a) the versatility required by the modern performer and b) the analytical / creative spontaneity of American Director Crystle Clear who discovered a phenomenon we despise and turned it into a short film we can warm to.

Adidas Originals :: FiveTwo3 Viral

Insight / inspiration for some bespoke Adidas store furniture by the guys at creative production studio SRK.

Did he really say his feet are ‘shell toe shaped’? Inspiration or insanity; call it what you want.

The Secret Behind Nike Air :: April Fools Special

Filed under: Film,Viral — Tags: Nike, The Secret Behind Nike Air — Ansel @ 10:10 pm April 1, 2010

I was lamenting the lack of quality April Fools jokes today when an article about Unicorns on the telebox came along, and had our MD Steph done up a kipper.

Another quality contribution comes by way of NIke’s film, which documents how they get that special air into their NIke Air trainers.

Check out how Apple manage a nice bit of product placement 0:26 in. These big boys never seem to miss a trick.

Shadrack and the Mandem :: Hood Stuff Pt.1 & 2

Filed under: Film,Marketing,Viral — Tags: Clickreplay.tv, Shadrack and the Mandem — Ansel @ 1:07 pm March 25, 2010

Self deprecating humour doesn’t normally come high on the young alpha males’ CV, but that could be about to change. Let me introduce you to Shadrack and the Mandem, courtesy of Clickreplay.tv

It’s high time that ‘urban’ male posturing got a full satirical send-up and Shadrack’s series of video treats send the whole culture up through the roof. Coupled with a twitter campaign that takes the concept onto new 140 letter highs and what you’ve got is comedy for a new age with a level of wisdom and insight that is ageless.

In their own words, Clickreplay.tv want to ‘simply be the back bone of, online home grown UK comedy entertainment.’ And anything is possible, as this is what I call true cultural ownership of the good, the bad, the ugly & the absolutely hilarious.

Andy Barefoot :: Make your own David Cameron poster

Filed under: Advertising,Mash-Ups,Politics,Viral — Tags: Andy Barefoot, Make your own David Cameron poster — Ansel @ 12:54 am January 23, 2010

If you’ve walked past an oversized image of David Cameron and thought ‘what are you looking at?’ only to get an empty glare back, then Andy Barefoot’s very funny site gives you the chance to write your own response for the Conservative campaign poster for the upcoming UK general election.

You can change the line and the logo. Hell, if you’re really up for it, you can change the shape of the election itself.
