BBC London Step Up 2010
Do you have a passion for news? Do you want to be at the heart of investigating original local stories about the build up to the Olympics 2012 for BBC London? Is your dream to be a journalist, but you always thought the BBC wasn’t for you? Have you struggled to get your foot in the door? Here is your chance to meet and learn from BBC staff, experience how the BBC London newsroom works, and get an insight into how a news programme is put together. By taking part in Step Up you will develop your confidence and knowledge, and be in a better position to apply for jobs within the media industry.
Step Up is a media project run by the BBC Academy in partnership with BBC London which aims to give people the skills and confidence to work in news. If you are successful you will get the chance to learn production skills in TV, Radio or Online over a period of 12 weeks. The final project will put your new expertise and creativity into practice by producing stimulating content on emerging stories about the 2012 Olympics for BBC London. You will also be paired with a BBC mentor, who will give you one-to-one support and advice.
