Lance Armstrong :: Live Strong

Filed under: Branding,Design,Marketing — Tags: Hort, Lance Armstrong, Lance Armstrong Foundation, Nike — Ansel @ 12:33 pm January 5, 2012

If you know anything about the living legend that is Lance Armstrong then you’ll know that he’s still alive because he is a legend, which is why the Live Strong adage makes sense. For those of you that need bringing up to speed, Armstrong is a record-holding seven-time winner of the Tour de France and cancer survivor.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation unites, inspires and empowers people affected by cancer and anyone with a pulse. When it comes to a story like Lance’s you don’t really need to sell it, you just need to tell it, courtesy of a minimalist booklet designed by Hort and co-signed by Nike.

Nike :: Glory Is Ours

Filed under: News — Tags: Glory Is Ours, Nike — Ansel @ 7:53 pm June 2, 2011

We may have got our a*ses kicked by Barcelona on the weekend, but I won’t let that get in the way of appreciating some good work.

Nike covered their bases with the Glory Is Ours poster / film campaign, in what for them can only be described as a win-win situation. The glory is theirs indeed.

NIke :: Take It To The Next Level

Filed under: Advertising,Marketing — Tags: Nike — Ansel @ 2:11 pm March 4, 2011

The world’s top players challenge you to take your game to the next level. I challenge you to do the same, no matter what it is you do.

Ignore the inclusion of Philippe Senderos. I’m guessing his involvement was just a massive mistake.

Become Mars

Filed under: Branding,Marketing — Tags: Become Mars, Nike — Ansel @ 7:22 pm June 6, 2010

Mars Blackmon was a Spike Lee alter-ego who starred in his seminal She’s Gotta Have It ’86 movie.

The character gained cult status as iconic front man for Nike’s Air Jordan commercials in the late 80′s early 90′s, and they’ve given life to Mars once more through designer / art director Markus Eriksonn’s website and iPhone app work for Nike.

Go to the site (or customary iPhone app), choose your best body double, upload your pic and you an excellent way of bringing two iconic brands to you, the new ‘Mega-drive Generation’.

Do y’know? Do y’know? Do y’know? Well you do now.

Nike :: Write The Future

Filed under: Advertising,Film — Tags: Nike, Write The Future — Ansel @ 2:52 pm May 23, 2010

Three rolling street-side billboard ads with three tenuous uses of the Saint Georges flag can only mean one thing; it’s World Cup silly season.

All the things you need to prepare you for a summer of sporting activity, you know – chocolate bars, beer, fizzy drinks – have provided us with all the ad nauseum we need for the coming summer months.

And there’s the new spot from Nike. In truth you don’t need them either, but as usual they claim a credible position with an irrefutable life message.

The ads not bad either.

The Secret Behind Nike Air :: April Fools Special

Filed under: Film,Viral — Tags: Nike, The Secret Behind Nike Air — Ansel @ 10:10 pm April 1, 2010

I was lamenting the lack of quality April Fools jokes today when an article about Unicorns on the telebox came along, and had our MD Steph done up a kipper.

Another quality contribution comes by way of NIke’s film, which documents how they get that special air into their NIke Air trainers.

Check out how Apple manage a nice bit of product placement 0:26 in. These big boys never seem to miss a trick.

Nike :: Yesterday You Said Tomorrow

Filed under: Advertising — Tags: Nike — Ansel @ 12:16 am February 15, 2010

Classic Nike. Classic work from agency W&K, taken a couple of years ago in NYC. Not by me I might add.

Sometimes, only sometimes, advertising hits the nail right on head. I want you to forget Nike for a minute though, and focus on the truth in a message that oh-so-many can relate to.

I know what I said yesterday too, but honestly, I will tomorrow…

Nike :: Is Talent All It Takes?

Filed under: Advertising — Tags: Is talent all it takes?, Nike — Ansel @ 1:16 am January 23, 2010

Get Serious. Get to Work. No it’s not Gordon Brown tirade, but from a recent Nike spot that says what the Department of Trade and industry would love to put out there, if only they thought young people were listening.

With a strong voice-over narrative and poignant strap-line, Nike manage to separate a more general, life affirming message from the consumer action that not only strengthens the Nike brand, but makes the ad feel genuine in its motivations.

I actually felt motivated watching it, but the question is, did you?
