Remembering Ayrton Senna

ayrton Twenty years ago today, three-time Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna lost his life in the San Marino Grand Prix. Ayrton Senna was more than an F1 champion, he was a life champion. Which is why in death his life permeates all those who knew of him or saw him race — be it track side or on TV. In many ways his ability to transcend Formula 1 sits at odds with the closed paddock mentality of a sport that continues to reluctantly embrace change — be it in technological terms or in the new face of its champions. Canonised in death. Loved-feared-demonised in life. On the 20th Anniversary of his death in Imola ’94, let us remember Ayrton Senna da Silva’s unstinting desire to not only win, but to push the boundaries of both the race track and the human spirit to ever higher heights.]]>
