The Penguin English Library opens its doors

To celebrate the launch of the Penguin English Library, Penguin commissioned this animation from award-winning director Woof Wan-Bau. Sytlistically, it has a touch of Thom Yorke’s ethereal Eraser about it, which is no bad thing.

The Penguin English Library website showcases 100 literary ‘classics’, acting as a direct conduit to Bookface and Tweeter conversation.

Much like the LBB platform, the interface is a visual experience. Unlike LBB, there’s a certain consistency to the site that provides an almost wallpaper-esque feel. However, despite what might look like a one-size-fits-all approach to book cover design, the devil – as with so many things – is in the detail.
